One of the joys I have with the Edinburgh Centre (Arcadia University) is the ceilidh we throw every semester for students. For some, it is their first ceilidh and exposure to Scottish traditional music. Dancers from the University of Edinburgh do demos and walk students through the steps; local musicians (such as the amazing Duncan, our piper) play familiar tunes. As a photographer, it’s fun to try to capture students’ laughing as they try the steps and dance around the room. It’s also fun to explain the “big camera” to colleagues so they can snap a few while I’m dancing! Or, balance the camera during Strip the Willow!
